Originally designed by Dr Robert Wartenberg, the pin wheel or Wartenberg wheel was designed to test nerve reactions across the skin.  Rolled lightly across the skin it stimulates a tickling sensation - add a bit more pressure and the sensation quickly increases and feels like the blade of a sharp knife.  And you decide where on the body to attack.
